Paul Ferguson, an Independent Candidate for the Inishowen Electoral Area has launched an online petition calling for politicians to reduce their pay packets at a time when the country is financially struggling.
The outline of the petition reads, “People are suffering all over our nation. We needed two bailouts to keep the country’s finances from going into meltdown. All the while every member of every party is paid outrageous amounts of money.
“All their pay packets should be less than €60,000 with no expenses. Let’s take our country back. Let’s tell each and every one of these fat cats we have had enough. No more. We, the people, need better. We expect better, and we demand better. Power to the people, let’s take our country back.”
The petition needs 100,000 signatures and it is addressed to Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Eamon Gilmore TD, leader of the Labour Party.
