Killybegs and the wider Donegal economy, could become one of the country's great national energy hubs with future gas or oil finds, it has been suggested.
This potential economic boost follows a decision by Government to allow gas and oil exploration to continue off the coast, the Irish Offshore Operator’s Association have said.
Killybegs already has expanded its maritime related footprint over the last decade to encompass everything from cruise ships and maritime tourism, to local businesses and products, that have targeted the huge retail market, both in Ireland and internationally.
