Kim Kardashian West may have got her shapewear knickers in a knot over cultural mis-appropriation but Buncrana’s where it’s at for a flattering silhouette.
Lambasted on social media for naming her new range of shapewear, ‘Kimono Intimates’, Ms Kardashian announced a hasty re-brand on Monday night past.
People in Japan were outraged at the apparent disrespect, which the reality star’s initial brand name implied to the Kimono, the country’s most iconic and revered item of traditional dress. Dating back to the Fifteenth Century, the Japanese Kimono is a long-sleeved, loose robe, tied with a sash.
Speaking to Donegal Now, away from the Kim Kardashian West shapewear social media storm, Nicola McLaughlin, owner of Buncrana’s Sequin Cinderella Boutique said most women wear shapewear.
Nicola said: “Whether we admit it or not, most women have some kind of shapewear or slimming underwear underneath our dresses. It just gives you that bit of added confidence.
“I supply Spanx leggings, which are actual trousers and they make you feel slim and they make you feel pulled in, no matter what size you are. They go from Size 6 right up to Size 26.
“They are really easy to wear and literally, I have sold them to woman of every single shape and size and every age. I’ve had teenagers buy them. I’ve had women in their 60s and 70s buy them. It really just depends on your style and obviously that you like them, rather than what age you are. I think there is no age limit.
“The Spanx shapewear is available in the boutique here in Buncrana and online (www.sequincinderella.com), smiled Nicola.
