Next week Kinnegar Brewing will be welcoming people of all ages to their “Big Day Out at the Brewery” in Ballyraine, Letterkenny in aid of MS Ireland.

Following on from last year’s highly successful event, visitors will have the opportunity to learn all about the wonderful world of beer.

The day will include brewery tours and demonstrations, games and entertainment, good local food and of course plenty of good local beer served in exchange for donations to MS Ireland – Donegal Branch.

With everyone’s help, the event hopes to surpass the €1,600 it raised last year for Pieta House.

The Big Day Out has something for young and old alike. Ever wondered how beer gets in a can? Well, here’s a chance to see Kinnegar’s new canning line in action. For an even more hands-on experience, try your hand at bottling on the brewery’s original bottle filler.

For the kids there will be demonstrations in natural soft-drink making and an opportunity to bottle and label their very own soft drink. Just how do those fizzy bubbles get in there?

Kinnegar’s Big Day Out is part of Indie Beer Week, a week-long schedule of events emphasising the very real and important connections Ireland’s independent brewers have with their local communities.

To the delight of food lovers out there, several of Donegal’s best-known food heroes are joining up. Kemal and the team from Scarpello & Co. will be dishing up their famous grilled cheese masterpieces. Nancy’s Barn from Ballyliffen will be serving bowls of their world champion seafood chowder. Richard, from The Counter, will also be there to demonstrate the fine art of making the perfect filter coffee.

The close working relationship and sense of community between independent Irish breweries will also be on display with brewing colleagues from Inishowen’s Boghopper and Sligo’s White Hag Brewery pouring their beers and joining in on the fun. Don’t miss it.

The Big Day Out at the Brewery takes place on June 23 from 2-8pm.  Admission is free but booking is essential by calling 074 910 3890 or by emailing [email protected].
