Letterkenny Town Council will meet for the final time this evening, and so too will Buncrana Town Council
The original council for the Letterkenny was set up way back in 1899.
But now it is being scrapped as a result of a reorganisation of local government.
Nine councillors are on the current council - Chairman Paschal Blake as well as Ciaran Brogan, Dessie Larkin, Victor Fisher, Gerry McMonagle, Tom Crossan, Jimmy Kavanagh, Lisa Culbert and Jim Lynch.
Later this month, voters will get the chance to elect councillors to a new enlarged Donegal Co. Council which is being expanded from 29 to 37 seats. The new Letterkenny Electoral Area will comprise ten seats and there are 22 candidates.
