A nurses' union is today claiming that Letterkenny University Hospital has the highest waiting list for a bed.
The Irish Nurses' and Midwives' Organisation (INMO), which publishes the figures in its daily Trolley and Ward Watch report, has revealed the LUH number to be 43.
This is actually one less than yesterday's figure of 44, but is today said to be the highest figure of any hospital in the country.
The INMO claimed LUH had a waiting list of 40 on Monday and 44 yesterday.
It claims there are 21 patients waiting on trolleys and another 22 waiting in wards at LUH today.
The overall national figure is 551, according to the INMO.
The HSE's figures are lower than the INMO's.
It claims there are 31 patients waiting for a bed in LUH.
