Telly bosses have told Donegal Now that the singers, dancers, and some novelty acts from a special showcase in Letterkenny last month were a “breath of fresh air”.

They have now promised that several of these will be getting the all-important call back following the showcase, which was organised by local talent management co-ordinator Mark ‘Scoop’ McCrossan.

The full story is in today's (Thursday's) edition of the Letterkenny Post newspaper, which is a sister publication of Donegal Now.

A spokesman said: “Thames TV thought that the Donegal showcase was a breath of fresh air and there were several candidates who will be getting a call back.

“We were particularly pleased with the variation. Dale Thomas, who operates in Northern Ireland, attended and did his glass walking trick.

“We had an Elvis impersonator, from Fanad, called Charlie Sweeney, who frequents weekly at the karaoke on a Sunday in the Glencar Inn in Letterkenny.

“There was a great surge of underage talent from students who performed their own original material.

“In fact, the scouts were very impressed with the original material.

“We are doing another showcase in January so you can tell your readers to watch this space.”

Insiders told Donegal Now that they are looking for top singers, as always, but also acts with an off-beat performance.

Those who score rave reviews from a small audience in the centre will stand an excellent chance of going forward.
