Letterkenny Tesco raised €1,500 in just 7 hours last Friday 15th in support of Temple Street's Great Irish Bake.

From 11am to 6pm, employees and customers baked, bought and ate an abundance of creations to help raise much needed funds for the children's hospital.

All 148 Tesco stores in Ireland took part and together raised over €155,000 in just 7 hours.

The money raised will be used to buy pump systems for the wards which will make giving fluids and medicine to patients that little bit easier.

Denise Fitzgerald, CEO of Fundraising for Temple Street: “We were completely blown away by the effort, enthusiasm and creativity of Tesco staff at their cake sales all over the country. The money raised will go directly where it is needed most; to buy essential medical equipment that is needed to keep our patients comfortable and pain free.  From our doctors, nurses and from our little patients and their families; we’d like to say thank you to everyone at Tesco for their on-going dedication and commitment to Temple Street.”

Temple Street Children’s Hospital operates the busiest A&E department in Europe.
