A 22-year-old man was arrested and charged with two counts of break-in and theft of cash totalling €3,000.
Francis Mongan (22) of Cullionboy, Barnesmore was before Donegal District Court on Wednesday.
Garda Paul McHugh gave evidence of arresting Mongan at Cullionboy on the morning of the court. He said the defendant made no reply to the charges.
Mongan is charged with alleged trespass and theft of €2,000 cash at Coach House Bar, Main Street, Donegal Town on December 12, 2017. He is further charged with the alleged trespass and theft of €1,000 cash at Coach House Bar, Donegal Town on February 9, 2018. The cash is the property of Gary Pearson of the Coach House Bar.
The defendant is also charged with possession of ammunition, namely 72 rounds of 5:56 calibre blank cartridges without being authorised by a Firearms Certificate under the Firearms Act 1925 and 1990.
Inspector Denis Joyce said it was the state’s application for the case to be dealt with at the district court.
Judge Kevin Kilrane released the defendant on bail of €300 not cash.
He adjourned the matter to October 22 for mention and election. The judge then ordered disclosure of statements and interview recordings to defence solicitor Rory O’Brien.
