RTÉ’s Operation Transformation is teaming up with Swim Ireland to bring ‘National Swim Day’ to the public on Saturday 1 February – but the pool advertised in Letterkenny is a car park, Donegal Now can reveal.
Over 50 swimming pools around the country are taking part – but the wrong address was given for Letterkenny.
The organisers said that the pool in Letterkenny was on the High Road.
However, the old pool and leisure centre there was closed in 2007 and subsequently demolished.
It is now a car park.
But the good news is that Letterkenny will still be part of National Swim Day.
The event will be staged at the Aura Leisure Centre. The national organisers had used the wrong address!
Meanwhile, The Mill Park Hotel, Donegal Town, and the Finn Valley Leisure Centre, Stranorlar, will also be open to the public for National Swim Day.
