The number of vacant premises in Co. Donegal is still above average according to a recent report by GeoDirectory.

A report for the first quarter of the year showed a vacancy rate of 13%, an increase of 0.6% over the same period last year.

The national average is a vacancy rate of 12.4%, making Co. Donegal one of the 13 counties in Ireland to record a higher than average percentage rate.

In the first quarter of 2014, 1,207 of the 9,258 commercial premises in the county were vacant.

The highest vacancy rates of the country are in Sligo (16%).
