A soccer club in Inishowen has successfully taken the unusual step of crowdfunding for and outdoor box in which to house a defibrillator.

The defibrillator was donated to Quigley’s Point Swifts FC by former Donegal County Councillor, John Ryan.

The club wanted to ensure that the community, local primary school and club members had access to the defibrillator and wanted to install it outside.

The outdoor defibrillator box cost  €500, so the club decided to crowdfund the project and actually exceeded the target, raising a fantastic €676 in just six days.

Thanking the community for their generosity, Quigley Point Swifts said: “We really cannot thank you all enough. This is something we really wanted to provide the club and you have taken so much pressure off a stretched committee. Thank you all.”
