There are almost 200 homes/businesses across Donegal experiencing power outages or interruptions as Storm Rachel moves in.

According to powercheck.ie there are 194 homes/businesses experiencing a fault in the following areas -

Newtowncunningham, 45 homes experiencing interruptions since 12:45pm, estimated restore time is 7.00pm.

Creeslough, 15 homes experiencing interruptions since 14:45pm, unknown restore time.

Gweedore area – 23 homes experiencing interruptions since 15:33pm with a restore time of 6.30pm. A further 111 homes/businesses in the area with no estimated restore rime.

The ESB has issued a warning that due to the severe weather expected power outages/interruptions may be prevalent across the county.

Here's some helpful advice of what to do if you experience a power outage or interruption -

Before calling:

Check if your neighbour(s) is without power or if your street light is not working. If either of these is the case call 1850 372 999.

Check if your trip switch is in the 'on' position or if your fuses have blown. If your trip switch has operated or a fuse has blown, turn off all appliances before resetting the switch or replacing the fuse.

Sometime the ESB networks' main fuse in your home or building may have blown call 1850 372 999 to report the problem.

Please quote your MPRN number if possible (shown on your bill as M10..) as this will enable the ESB to pinpoint your location.
