The Emergency Dept. of Letterkenny General has asked for the public to once again avoid the Emergency Dept. if possible today.

The hospital remains very busy today. The latest figures from the Irish Nurse and Midwives Organisation Trolley and Ward watch have reported that there are 16 people waiting on trolley’s and a further 4 waiting on wards in Letterkenny General Hospital.

There have been a lot of emergency admissions over the past few days and high bed occupancy levels are still causing delays in moving patients from the Emergency Department to the wards.

Management at the hospital are asking the public for their understanding for any delays that may occur while it responds to the current workload.

Members of the public are asked to call their GP or Out of hours service first if possible.
