The 12th annual free Christmas Day Dinner to be held in Letterkenny was once again a resounding success.

Aimed primarily at those living alone, or unable to cook for themselves, it was held in Conwal Parish Hall.

Local volunteers put in trojan work to provide a wonderful meal and there was entertainment - plus a visit from Santa.

Up to 100 people were catered for.

The event is co-ordinated by Kathy O'Connor, who explains more in the video clip below.

Once again, she paid tribute to all the businesses and individual who have supported the event in any way.

The event is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and the Radisson Blu Hotel.

Several of those in attendance availed of the free transport that was laid on.

Meanwhile, there is also a New Year's Day dinner for people and families who feel lonely at this time of year, thanks to the kind-hearted people behind Sonder restaurant in Letterkenny.

It is from 2pm on January 1 in Sonder at Rossview Business Park on the Port Road, courtesy of chef Martin Anderson.
