Met Eireann has issued a Status Red wind warning for exposed coastal and mountain areas along the entire western seaboard including Donegal.

The national weather forecast service is warning that gusts could reach 150km/h. These high winds coincide with high onshore seas and strong gales increasing to storm force 10 on Irish coastal waters on Wednesday night. People are advised to avoid low-lying coastal roads and all unnecessary coastal or marine activities.

The Status Red wind warning applies from 2.00pm on Wednesday until 12.00noon on Thursday.

A Status Yellow rainfall warning is also in place for the county with up to 35mm of rain expected.
