Following the huge success of Phantom of the Opera, Donegal Youth Musical Theatre (DYMT) will stage Broadway sensation Jesus Christ Superstar.

Keeping in the high realms of Andrew Lloyd Webber classics, this news has sparked huge interest in the north west.

DYMT, Donegal's county-wide musical theatre company, offers young actors a real taste of the professional musical theatre industry.

The search is now on for the north west’s most promising actors, singers and dancers. Cast members can look forward to the highest level of training. They will take part in a three weeks of intensive rehearsals from nationally and internationally acclaimed tutors and masterclass coaches.

Rehearsals will run from August 1 to 21. The production will then run in An Grianan Theatre, Letterkenny from August 22 to 25.

Last year's sell-out run of the north west premier of The Phantom of the Opera was met with incredible reviews, both locally and nationally. The success of the show saw Donegal instilled as a hub of musical theatre excellence;

 “...Visually stunning...a Feast for the eyes..." (AIMS Review of DYMT’s Phantom of the Opera)

 DYMT Director, Séimí Campbell spoke of his excitement for this year's production.

 He said: “Expect a very different adaptation of JCS; one that is set in our own current affairs.”

Cast

 For a production that is traditionally cast with mostly male actors, Mr Campbell said: “We are looking for both female and male actors to audition for all leading roles. It is going to be ensemble-based, so experienced dancer and singers - we're looking for you!”

 Applications for JCS are now open, but not for long. Cast members must be aged between 12 and 24. There are just a few days left to apply and places are filling up quickly. Anyone who wishes to apply should download the Audition Application Form.
