Seven students from Glenties “adopted” soldiers from Donegal who died in the First World War as they visited all their graves in the Somme region of France last week.
The students from St Columba’s Comprehensive School in Glenties undertook a gruelling 220km charity cycle of Northern France in memory of their much-loved teacher, Aileen Dowling, who tragically died from cancer last December at the age of 33, and to honour Donegal born soldiers who died in the Great War.
