Brendán O’Connell, the tragic motorcycle marshal for Cycle Against Suicide who died in a collision with a lorry on the Barnesmore Gap road on Wednesday will be laid to rest this weekend.

His funeral will take place on Saturday morning in St. Brendan’s Church, Curraheen in his hometown of Tralee, Co. Kerry.

Donations are in lieu of flowers to Cycle Against Suicide co/ The Gleasure Funeral Home.

The Cycle Against Suicide was postponed immediately after the incident and did not resume until today. Jim Breen, founder of Cycle Against Suicide, expressed a deep sense of loss following the tragedy: “Our thoughts and prayers are with our dear friend and his family at this difficult time. Our hearts are simply broken.”
