Cllr. Paul Canning has taken in excess of 20% of the first preference vote in the new Buncrana Electoral Area.

He is set to top the poll, according to tally estimates.

The Fianna Fáil councillor will be elected tomorrow.

His running-mate Rena Donaghey (FF) Jack Murray (SF) and Nicholas Crossan (Ind) look set to be re-elected with Sinn Fein's Terry Crossan favoured for the last seat at the expense of Fine Gael's Mickey Doherty.
