But over Knockalla the Bolyes had a superb run and were almost 12 seconds faster than the rest of the field, and opened up a an 8.4 second lead going into service in Milford.

Darren Gass and Enda Sherry in a Subaru WRC were in third while Garry Jennings and Rory Kennedy, in another Subaru WRC, were in fourth, some 44 seconds adrift of the leader.

Josh Moffett and John Rown lead Group N in their Mitsubishie Evo 9.
