Almost 100 people got to see Donegal from a whole new perspective over the Bank Holiday weekend – as they descended to the ground from 10,000 feet.
It was all part of a sponsored parachute jump in west Donegal which saw them taking a plane from Donegal Airport in Carrickfinn before taking part in a tandem jump.
For many of them it was the most incredible thing they had ever done.
And words likes “fantastic, amazing and unbelieable” rolled off their tongues as they touched down – all with great precision – on the playing pitch just beside the airport.
Those taking part had to raise a set amount to cover the costs, with the remainder going to a number of charities, namely
Down Syndrome (Donegal), Austism Family Support Group, St. Vincent de Paul, the Peruvian Children’s Charity, Our Lady's Hospital Crumlin , Simon Community, Diabetes Ireland, and 22Q11.
The parachute jump is held in conjunction with the Irish Parachute Club and Skydive Ireland who provide the aircraft and also the professionally trained personnel who were involved in the jumps.
“Thanks are extended to all involved and who have supported the event in any way,” a spokesman for the organisers said.
