Donegal's Georgie Kelly missed a penalty in a dramatic penalty shoot-out in Latvia this evening - but Dundalk still won their UEFA Champions League first round qualifier.

Having drawn 0-0 in Oriel Park last week, Dundalk made the trip to Latvia hopeful that they could beat Riga FC.

The game ended scoreless after 90 minutes.

And there was still no breakthrough in extra time.

It went to penalties.

Inishowen's Georgie Kelly had the chance to win it for Dundalk but failed to score, and it was 3-3 after the customary five penalties each.

It went to sudden death, and 37-year-old Gary Rogers pulled off a great save.

Sean Hoare scored to put Dundalk into the second round, guaranteeing them another big pay-day.

The Co. Louth club can no look forward to the second qualifying round, and a tie with Qarabag of Azerbaijan.

Goalkeeper Rogers was the hero.
