Finn Harps are in action tonight in the Irish Daily Mail FAI Cup first round against Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds.
At half-time, it's:
Bray Wanderers 1, Finn Harps 0
Premier Division Bray Wanderers have had the better of the first half in an open and entertaining cup tie played in fine conditions.
The Wicklow side may be struggling in the league but they put in a spirited display in the opening 45 minutes that will have given real heart to new manager Gary Cronin.
Bray began well and after early chances for Paul O'Conor and Ger Pender, they took the lead on 15 minutes.
O'Conor slipped the ball into the path of Pender inside the box and he finished with real conviction as he fired past the diving Ciaran Gallagher.
But Harps came into the game before the break with Nathan Boyle and Mikey Place looking increasingly threatening. Indeed on 37 minutes Place was through on goal but instead of shooting opted to try and pull the ball back for Jesse Devers but Bray cleared.
Moments later a John Kavanagh cross glanced off the woodwork as Harps went close to equalising.
Darragh Noone fired just wide of the target on 43 minutes as Bray had a chance of a second.
The game tonight must be finished so extra-time and penalties will be played if requried.
While Bray were sharper early on, Harps improved as the half progressed.
