Finn Harps could go second in the SSE Airtricity League First Division tonight.

To do so, they will have to beat Longford Town in Ballybofey (kick-off 8.00 pm) - and also depend on results going their way elsewhere.

But the flip side is that defeat could see Harps dropping to fifth come the end of this evening's fixtures.

With just eight games to go in the league, things are really hotting up.

UCD top the table on 39 points, four ahead of Shelbourne, with Drogheda United and Finn Harps a point further behind on 34.

Longford have 32 points.

But it's not just the top five battling it out for the title and play-off positions (fourth gets you into the process).

As Ollie Horgan warned his week: "Galway have not gone away."

The Tribesmen have seen a dip in form of late and are sixth on 29 points but Horgan - noting their squad - still thinks they can put together a run of results to haul themselves back into contention.

Tonight's First Division games:

Athlone Town v. Cabinteely

Cobh Ramblers v. Galway United.

Finn Harps v. Longford Town

Shelbourne v. Drogheda United

Wexford v. UCD
