A special presentation will be made to a Finn Harps player this Friday, to mark 500 games in the League of Ireland.

While Raffaele Cretaro has only been with Harps for a short period of time, he is a League of Ireland legend and the 37-year-old Tubbercurry native spent the bulk of his career with Sligo Rovers. He also had brief stints with Bohemians and Galway United.

Meanwhile, Ollie Horgan and the Finn Harps squad are putting the final touches to their preparations for tonight’s big Northwest derby against Derry City in Ballybofey (kick-off 8.00).

Harps will be looking to build on their excellent victory in Waterford last Friday night but the Candystripes will pose a huge challenge to the chances of the hosts getting a result at Finn Park.

“We’re ready as we can be for tonight and it’s up to the lads to put in a big shift. We’ll see if that is enough to match Derry who are going very well at the moment and will see this game as one where they can get a win. They have beaten us three times already this season. Twice in the league we have lost to them and it was 4-0 in the Brandywell when we went there at the end of May,” Horgan said.

Horgan is encouraging supporters from across the County to come out and back the team tonight.

“This is the perfect opportunity to come out and support our players on a Friday night. 8.00 is the kick-off time so we would really like to see the fans here in big numbers. We need that backing in every sense. This is another big game for us and it’s against our neighbours Derry so there will be that extra derby atmosphere,” Horgan said.
