Finn Harps played Athlone Town in a pre-season friendly at Athlone Town Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

It ended 2-2.

But, interestingly, one of the names on the Harps' team-sheet was John Kavanagh.

The versatile defender/midfielder was at Harps last season, on loan from Cork City.

And he played a major part in helping Harps to promotion, including a goal in the play-off second leg game against Drogheda United.

Kavanagh signed a new deal with Cork City in December.

But the fact that he lined out for Harps suggests that he may be back under Ollie Horgan's management again.

Kavanagh put in a decent stint with Harps last year, and would be a welcome addition to the squad.

Finn Harps: Peter Burke, Raffaele Cretaro, Daniel O’Reilly, Mark Coyle, Sam Verdon, Caolan McAleer, Gareth Macken, John Kavanagh, Nathan Boyle, Sam Todd, Mikey Place.

Subs: Daragh Ellison, Tony McNamee,Colm Deasy, Michael Gallagher, Stephen Doherty, Liam Walsh, Niall McGinley, Keith Cowan, Jamie Bell.
