Irish badminton stars Sam and Chloe Magee from Raphoe are preparing for the China Open which starts next week.

They have been drawn against Chris aand Gabrielle Adcok of Great Britain in the first round.

The Victor China Open is a HSBC BWF World Tour Super 1000 tournament and is one of only three Super 1000 level tournaments, the other two being the All England Championships and the Indonesia Open.

The prize fund is $1 million.

This is one of the most high profile badminton events on the calendar.

Earlier the Magees they bowed out of the Mixed Doubles Japan Open in the first round after losing out to World Number 4 Tang Chun Man & Tse Ying Suet of Hong Kong 15-21, 13-21.

Nevertheless, they will take many positives from this performance.
