Former winners Garry Jennings and Rory Kennedy lie third going into the second day of the Joule Donegal International Rally.

But had it not been for an incident on the fifth stage (Cark Mountain) they could well be leading.

Jennings cut sharply during the stage and the front left wheel hit a rock and was punctured and damaged.

They still continued to the end of the stage - where the wheel was changed - but they lost valuable time.

The leaders are defending champions Manus Kelly and Donall Barrett in a Subaru WRC who are 9.3 seconds ahead of Declan Boyle and James O'Reilly in a Ford Fiesta WRC.

Jennings and Kennedy are a further 13.4 seconds adrift.

Damien Tourish and Domhnall McAlaney in a Ford Escort MKII lead the National Rally by 0.3 seconds from Ian Barrett and Paul McGee in a Darrian T90.

Kevin Gallagher and Noel O'Sullivan are third in another Darrian.
