They haven’t claimed victory since 2006 but today the Donegal Minors walk away from the Ulster Minor Championship victorious!
The final score was Donegal 2-12 Armagh 0-10.
The opening stages of the first half were packed with action with Donegal dominating the pitch and scoring the opening point (Jamie Brennan).
The Donegal Minors continued full steam ahead when John Campbell scored a goal, while Armagh didn’t score a point until around the 21 minute mark, at which stage the score was Donegal 1-07 v Armagh 0-01.
A high challenge on Donegal’s Lorcan O’Connor earned an Armagh player a Black Card and the second half came to a close with Armagh trailing 0-02 to Donegal’s 1-09.
The second-half was a slightly slower start with Armagh scoring the opening point. Donegal has a few wides and missed opportunities.
However, Donegal soon regained composure and the score was Donegal 1-12 v Armagh 0-7 with just 7 ½ minutes left.
Declan Bonner’s team were getting a little nervous towards the end of the game as Armagh continued to close the gap, but a second goal in the last moments of the game sealed the deal.
Donegal were victorious 2-12 to Armagh’s 0-10.
Niall Harley lifted the Fr. Murray Cup and the crowd erupted.
