Irish teenager, Mona McSharry, who swims with the Ballyshannon Marlins Swim Club, has missed out on reaching the final of the 50m breastroke at the European Swimming Championships in Glasgow.

She finished sixth in her semi-final heat.

But it was a great experience and this is another step forward for the talented swimmer, who was making the step up to the senior championship level.

"I was hoping I could go faster," she told RTE.

Afterwards, she reflected on the championships, the year to date, and what is now ahead.
