It’s been a great week for Finn Harps with the U17s making history by becoming the first underage side from the club to capture a national title after winning the Mark Farren Cup on Saturday evening in Ballybofey.

Last Friday, Harps U19 player and former Letterkenny Rovers player Michael Gallagher came on as a second half sub for the Republic of Ireland in a friendly international against Wales at the City Calling Stadium in Longford.

Yesterday, two Finn Harps boys Daniel Gildea and Fionnan Coyle came on as second half subs for the Republic of Ireland U16 side who defeated Bulgaria 4-2 in a friendly in Sofia.

Gildea and Coyle are both members of Kevin McHugh’s U15 squad. Gildea is a former Fintown Harps player while Coyle was with Gweedore Utd prior to the move to Finn Park.

Both boys will hope to see further action in the second friendly game against Bulgaria tomorrow.
