Nora Stapleton from Fahan was part of the Irish women’s rugby team that made history as they defeated World Champions New Zealand in Paris to put themselves within touching distance of the semi-finals.

The Philip Doyle managed side came from behind to record a marvellous 17-14 win.

This is the first time since 1991 that New Zealand have lost in the World Cup as Ireland move to top of Pool B, with the final game against Kazakhstan to come on Friday.

Laura Muldoon from Ballybofey was one of the Irish substitutes.
