Moville U14 manager Darren Henpenstall has heaped praise on his young side after they fought back from 1-0 to land the Inishowen cup in thrilling fashion on Monday evening.

With the clock ticking and Carn FC holding on fiercely to their slender lead, Moville eventually broke through late on to force extra time. They then went on to win thanks to a 25-yard wonder strike from Andrew Doherty.

Said Henpenstall: “I always had the belief that we would do it. I said to the lads at half time ‘we are the better team’ and I knew they would turn it around.

“We played much better in the second half. We did leave it a bit late, but I always had faith it would happen. Cuan (Lafferty) did really well to get the equaliser, and Andrew’s wonder goal at the end was absolutely brilliant.”

This is Henpenstall’s first season coaching, and he says he could not have wished for a better induction into football management.

“This is my first year coaching so it’s nice to get a reward at the end of it,” he said.

“But at the end of the day it was the lads themselves who went out there and did it. They kept going 100 percent even when they were behind.

“That has been their attitude all season -  they have literally given me everything and I couldn’t have asked for a better bunch of lads.”
