Sean Devenney from Letterkenny's Northwest Snooker Club is set to compete in the National Under-16 final this weekend in Carlow.
Sean is up against defending champion Ross Bullman from Cork. Sean, who is also studying to sit his Junior Cert this year, will also be hoping to qualify for the home international team, to be played in Leeds in August.
Northwest Snooker Club had six players in Carlow last weekend at the National Senior championship, where there was a first round exit for Aidan Devenney who lost 4-1. There were second round loses for Pete Donegan 4-0, Ronan Whyte 4-0, Sean Devenny 4-1 and Anthony Bonnar 4-3.
But star billing goes to newcomer Aman Goel from India who on the way to the last 32 had some great wins over Sean O'Toole 4-1, club mate Anthony Bonnar 4-3 and was beat 4-1 by Johnny Farrell.
