Finn Harps       1          Waterford united          0

Finn Harps resumed on a winning note following the Airtricity League’s short summer break as they deservedly defeated Waterford United at Finn Park.

Incredibly this was only their second home league win of the current campaign.

But they were good value for the three points.

In the first half the home side edged things with on-loan striker Ruairi Keating and Kevin McHugh going close.

The breakthrough came on 53 minutes when Keating ran into the box and confidently found the target with his fifth league goal

Harps really should have got a second to seal the game. Pat McCann, McHugh, Packie Mailey and substitute Sean McCarron all had chances.

This win moves Harps to within six points of a play-off spot.
