Buncrana Ladies midfielder Caroline Gallagher has cut short her summer coaching job in America in order to line out for her club in the intermediate county final this weekend.
The Inishowen side, who take on Glenties in O'Donnell Park this Sunday in the battle for the intermediate crown, thought they were going to have to do without key player Gallagher, who was supposed to be away until October.
But the loyal Scarvey woman, a member of the 2017 Donegal Ladies Ulster championship-winning squad, gave her teammates a pleasant surprise on Wednesday evening when she turned up for training, having just jetted in from the States the day before.
'Dano' told us: "When I got word through last Sunday that we'd beaten St Eunan's and were in the final, I was over the moon for the girls, but I was personally gutted I wasn't going to be involved.
"I couldn't think about anything else that whole night, and in the end I just picked up the phone to Aer Lingus and booked a flight home. It cost me an absolute fortune - but there's no way I was going to miss a county final."
