Four Masters v Malin
Four Masters are clearly a side in transition with a host of young players and a small cadre of veterans who show great loyalty to the cause in testing times.
The Donegal Town side pulled an iron out of the fire at the weekend with a late goal saving them from relegation - at Malin's expense.
Veterans Barry Monaghan (40), Barry Dunnion and Michael Doherty are still answering the call, but they also lost Doherty to a pretty serious led injury against Sean MacCumhaill’s.
On Sunday they face a Malin team that is well used to taking big name championship scalps, especially at their Fortress Connolly Park.
But they make the long journey to the south of the county and home advantage must certainly count for something in Tir Conaill Park.
McGowan and Conor McMonagle are key figures up front along with the towering Patrick Reid for the Masters.
And if fit Karl Lacey could still have a big impact on this encounter as Barry Dunnion continues to struggle with a niggling injury.
Daire Quinn is also a key figure while young Ray Balogan and Jason Duignan are also key figures.
For Malin the “Fildara” McLaughlin clan remains a potent threat.
And there is none more so than the free-scoring Benny who put on a great exhibition of scoring in a recent valuable victory over Termon.
Paul McLaughlin gives good support while Jason Doherty is also a major figure.
Malin are a strong, competitive side and shocked St Eunan’s a few years ago. They may not have quite as strong an outfit on this occasion.
But they relish the championship and are wounded after relegation.
This one is hard to call, but home advantage might just swat matters for the Masters.
