Today was a wonderful day for Letterkenny Rugby Club as it hosted an Ulster Rugby open training day.
Irish captain Rory Best was among the big names players in attendance, along with the likes of Jacob Stockdale, Iain Henderson and Stuart McCloskey.
Hundreds turned up at Dave Gallaher Park to watch a hugely interesting and entertaining training session in a relaxed atmosphere.
The Ulster Rugby roadshow involves around 70 people and the professionalism of the whole set up was there for all too see.
Afterwards, Best and the players took time out to sign autographs and pose for photos.
Ulster's Operations Director, Bryn Cunningham, explained that in previous years they had held a pre-season camp in Portugal and had an open training session at one of their local clubs. This year they decided to combine the two and have a week-long camp in the North West, with open training sessions in Coleraine on Tuesday and Letterkenny on Thursday.
Commenting on the visit of the Ulster squad to Donegal, Shaun McGuinness, Letterkenny RFC Chairman, said: "It is a fantastic occasion for the club and sport in general in Donegal. It's great to see the crowds here."
Meanwhile, the Abbey Insurance Ulster Rugby Academy squad for the upcoming season was confirmed this week and for the second year in succession it includes Letterkenny’s Joe Dunleavy, who plays his club rugby with Malone.
The trip to Letterkenny is part of Ulster Rugby's pre-season preparations ahead of the Pro-14 League that begins again in September.
