The voice of Irish Motorsport has sadly passed away.

Doughie Hughes, a real authoirty of motorsport in Ireland, had died at the age of 84,

For over 60 years he was a familiar figue at rally events all over Ireland - including Donegal.

"I enjoyed every minute of it," he declared on several occasions.

Dougie was often seen before, during and after stages and enjoyed the banter with the drivers, especially on the podium.

His clear love for the sport was clear for all to see.

The video below shows Dougie in full flow as he connected with rally fans while on the famous Glen stage of the Donegal International Rally back in 2006.

This short video, from 2010, shows him celebrating is 77th birthday.
