Charlie O'Donnell Cup Group Stages
Sea Rovers 1
Aileach Reserves 2
Aileach started this game the better and on 12 minutes Ruairi Bradley had a fine effort tipped over by Glen Watson in the Rovers goal. The visitors broke the deadlock on 21 minutes after Stephen Doherty found Bradley and he despatched a powerful low drive from twenty yards in off the post.
Killian O’Rourke then broke through the home defence but Watson made a fine save to keep Rovers in it.
Rovers came more into the game after this and Darragh O’Connor on the right fired an excellent effort just past the post. Rovers had the first chance of the second period when Thomas Ramsey’s shot on the run was tipped over by David McGeady.
But the visitors doubled their lead on the hour mark when Bradley fired a tremendous twenty five yards shot to the top corner. Rovers tried to hit back and good interplay between Conor McGeoghaghan and O’Connor released Evan McLaughlin whose effort was turned round the post by McGeady.
They got back into the game on 74 minutes when Gerard Doherty set up Conor Gallagher to drill low past McGeady from ten yards. Aileach upped the tempo and both Paddy Curran and Bradley were denied by Watson as the visitors saw the game out.
