Buncrana’s Mark Timlin has warned Belarus side Shakhytor Soligorsk that they will face a Derry City side brimming with confidence when they visit the Brandywell on Thursday night (7.45pm).
The Inishowen man has been a regular in Peter Hutton’s starting lineup since breaking into the side before the mid season break and looks set for a key role in the crunch tie.
City will be hoping to keep the Europa League qualifying second round tie alive for the return leg in Belarus next week and, having scored ten goals and conceded none in their last two games, Timlin believes they should go into the game with no fear.
“It’s a quick recovery so it’s going to be tough but we’ll be confident,” he told the Inish Times. “When you’re scoring goals and keeping clean sheets the team is full of confidence and we probably shouldn’t go into any game fearing anyone now.
“I’m delighted to keep my place in the team. I just want to keep playing well so I can keep my place. There’s competition now and you need to do well to keep your place.”
