Isle of Doagh man Stephen McLaughlin reached another milestone in his ever rising career last night when he netted his first senior goal for Nottingham Forest in a pre season friendly against European giants Porto in Portugal.
The former Derry City and Finn Harps winger was a 70th minute substitute for Stuart Pearce's side and wasted little time in making an impact as he seized on a sloppy defensive pass and burst into the box to rifle low past the Porto 'keeper for the winning goal in a 3-2 victory.
McLaughlin broke into the Forest first team at the end of last season and spoke recently to the Inish Times of his desire to push on and cement his starting spot at the City Ground. Although the new season is in its infancy he has certainly started that bid on the right footing.
The goal is 1 minute and 30 seconds into the video, congratulations Stephen!
