Donegal's Marty Lynch has won The Race 2018 - Ireland's Ultimate Endurance Event

The winner of last year's event completed the 250km gruelling course in a new record time of 13 hours, 32 minutes.

The event, which began and finished at the Gartan Outdoor Education Centre, was a huge success.

The route involved running, cycling, kayaking and a climb of Muckish Mountain.

It was a wonderful win for the Milford man, who really excelled in the latter stages.

The video below also shows some of the spectacular route and focuses on winner Marty Lynch.

All of the proceeds from the Race support Self Help Africa’s work with farming families across sub-Saharan Africa.

For a glimpse of the incredible impact that support of the Race makes on so many lives, see today's Sunday Independent  for an in-depth feature of Self Help Africa’s work in Uganda.
