Donegal hurlers will be tackling Down at 12 noon today in St. Tiernach’s Park, Clones in the Ulster Senior Hurling Championship quarter-final.

It’s their first game since they were defeated by Fingal in the Nicky Rackard Cup semi-final and defeating Down, last year’s winners of the Christy Ring Cup, will be no easy task for Ray Durack and his team.

The Donegal side will also be without one of their most crucial players as it was announced earlier this week that Danny Cullen had been ruled out of all games for 9 months due to a cruciate injury. Cullen was a vital part of the Donegal team, he helped them gain promotion to Division 2A in the National Hurling League.

Another blow to today’s game is the absence of Enda McDermott, who is serving a one match ban from the Fingal game.

Nonetheless, Durack is certain that his team will give a solid performance.
