Two former garda stations in Donegal have been sold.
Auctioneers Ganly Walters handled the sales at a public auction held in the Sligo Park Hotel today.
The 195 sq metre former garda station in Churchill, Co Donegal, and a 203m property in Glencolmcille were put up for sale along with a number of other properties.
The Churchill property (pictured above) comprises four bedrooms, a public office and two file stores.
It initially failed to reach the minimum price of €75,000 that was sought.
The property was withdrawn from market at €60,000 but was subsequently sold at a higher price.
However, it is not known if it reach the original minimum price sought.
The former garda station in Glencolmcille (below) was sold for its minimum advised value of€55,000.
The property comprises a two storey detached building with enclosed rear yard and outbuildings.
Other former garda stations were sold in Dromod, Co Leitrim (€142,000), and in Easkey, Co. Sligo (€65,000).
The properties were sold on instruction from the OPW.
When the State decided to embark on a programme of closing many small garda stations, property prices were much higher.
The amount of revenue that will be collected is likely to be less than envisaged originally.
