It was the end of an era when the Town Mayor Paschal Blake hosted the Mayors Ball in the Mount Errigal Hotel last Saturday night with 450 guests.
Paschal’s former colleague Charlie Collins was MC for the evening and got the proceedings underway very efficiently.
The charities which benefited this year were Donegal Mental Health Services, Downs Syndrome Association and the Autism Society
Kevin Mills, Director of Nursing said a few words on behalf of Donegal Mental Health Services followed by a representative from Autism, Sean Bradley and Aimee Richardson said a few words on behalf of Downs Syndrome Association, Anne McGowan from Tidy Towns Committee also said a few words followed by the guest speaker of the evening Dr. Eleanor Corcoran. Concluding the speeches was John G Kelly a lifelong friend and colleague of Pascal’s who spoke on his behalf summing up his year as Mayor.
Many organisations were represented on the night including the Lourdes Group, former colleagues from Donegal Mental Health Services, the Keeney family, Molloy and Maloney and Blake’s families.
Absent on the night was the first lady Pasqueline who was hospitalised and unable to attend but insisted the ball went ahead, we wish her a speedy recovery.
This was a very enjoyable night where guests were treated to an international variety evening of entertainment followed by the Kopy Kats.
