Monaghan's Josh Moffett, who was fifth in last week's Donegal International Rally, has won the Ravens Rock Stages Rally in Waterford.

Along with co-driver Andy Hayes they won in a Ford Fiesta with 18.3 seconds to spare ahead of Roy White and James O'Brien in a Ford Fiesta WRC.

Third after the nine stages were Richard Moore and John McGrath in a Ford Escort MK2, some 2 minutes, 55.6 seconds adrift.

Speaking at the end of the last stage Moffett said that "his heart was not in it at the start" following last week's tragedy in which Manus Kelly died following a crash in the Donegal International Rally.

But he then got into his stride and picked up some important points in what is round five of the Triton Showers National Rally Championship.

This win extends his lead in the championship.

The next round is the Sligo Stages Rally on July 14th.
