The organisers of the Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival 2014 in Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal have reported that to date tickets for the 4-day festival (29th May – 1st June) have sold in 25 countries across the world.

Over 7,000 visitors are expected to attend the event that will host in excess of 25 music acts including ‘Band of Friends’, which features Rory Gallagher’s former band members Gerry McAvoy and Ted McKenna; ‘Eric Bell Band’, featuring Thin Lizzy’s original guitarist Eric Bell; ‘Bernie Marsden Band’, fronted by the legendary Whitesnake guitarist Bernie Marsden; ‘Sinnerboy’ (UK); ‘Bad Penny’ (Germany); Pat McManus Band (ex. Mama’s Boy’s), and local legends Johnny Gallagher and The Boxtie Band.

Festival chairperson Barry O’Neill said: “We will have the biggest international audience in the 12 year history of the festival with weekend tickets for the Big Top Concerts selling in 25 countries to date.

“Music fans and visitors are attending from all over the world, from as far as Australia, Canada, USA, Turkey, Brazil. It’s a fantastic tribute to the late Rory Gallagher but it underlines Rory’s worldwide following 19 years after his untimely passing.”

Mr. O’Neill believes this year’s fesitval has one of the greatest line-ups to date, describing it as ‘one of the most significant tributes to Rory’.
