The U-20/U-23 National Championships were held at CIT Cork on Sunday last and it was a memorable event for members of the McGuigan family.

Three members of the family took home well-deserved medals on the day.

The eldest of the impressive threesome, Dempsey McGuigan, won the U-23 Hammer with 64+, while Fellan took the U-20 title once again with another 64+. Not to be out done, Dalton achieved a Bronze medal in the U-20 Steeplechase.

Earlier, in what was a very long programme, Ciaran Dolan ended his most impressive atheltics week ever by winning the U-23 Long Jump at 7-03. His neighbour, Jack Speight, was back taking on the challenge of the steeplechase, a discipline in which he previously excelled, won the U-23 event.

Bill Kennedy, still Under-18, achieved Silver in the 200 U-20 having reached the 100 earlier in the day.

Finally, Blaithnaid Patton got Bronze in triple 11-07m to add to a 1-60m High Jump.

It was a great day for Finn Valley athletes all round! Members and staff of Finn Valley AC would like to extend their congratulations to Tirconaill AC on winning the Girls U-20 Relay, a new Donegal record of 48.46!
